Innishannon Steam and Vintage Rally 2006
The 9th Innishannon Steam and Vintage Rally was officially opened
by the incoming National Coordinator of the Irish Cancer Society,
Ms Jill Clark in beautiful sunshine and she stayed the whole day
at the rally event. She was very impressed by all the vintage vehicles
and also all the various stalls which she found fascinating.
The proceeds of our rally were handed over at a pleasant function
on Inishannon House Hotel and a cheque of €80,000 was presented
to Ms Jill Clark the National Coordinator of ICS and Ms Margaret
O'Sullivan PRO of ICS Cork. We are indeed indebted to all who sponsored
us and all who contributed in any way to the success of the Innishannon
Rally. We are delighted to have a venue to hold the rally on the
lands of the Barrett Family, where all the vintage enthusiasts can
meet and show off their vintage vehicles as well as have a chat
and meet their vintage acquaintances.
Innishannon Steam and Vintage Rally 2004
The 7th Innishannon Steam and Vintage Rally was held on the June
Bank Holiday Weekend and once again we were blessed with fine weather.
The Official Opening was performed by Donncha O'Dulaing of "Failte
Isteach" fame who was celebrating 40 years in Radio, Donncha
spent most of the day with us and was very pleased with what he
viewed on the event field.
The exhibits were up quite considerably from last year we had close
on 200 tractors, the biggest to date, we had 10 threshers, which
was a lovely display. We had some unique cars which were very well
turned out as well as oil engines, motorbikes, steam engines, and
art & craft displays, as well as the forge and pets corner which
contained the most unusual species from the animal kingdom, this
indeed was very popular with the children and also the adults and
teenagers. We also had a lot of stands and stalls, which were up
on last year.

We are indeed indebted to all who help and sponsor us to make this
a successful rally. Huge thanks must go to our Main Sponsor Mr.
Flor Griffin, of Flor. Griffin Electrical; Cork, Bandon & Ballincollig.
Our Stewards who were there in abundance this year are very important
in the stewarding and running of the rally for which we are very
thankful. We are glad that we are able to have a venue to hold this
rally and where all vintage enthusiasts can meet and not alone display
their item but also have the opportunity to acquire a vintage piece
from the Autojumble Stalls.
The proceeds of our rally were handed over at a pleasant function
in the Munster Arms Hotel, Bandon on September 10th, and the cheque
presented to Mr. James Cassidy and Ms. Margaret O'Sullivan from
the Irish Cancer Society was €65,000. We wish to thank everyone
who contributed to making this event the success it was and looking
forward to seeing you all next year.
Mary Desmond Secretary.
